  1. Is Cobalt a gay club? Do I need to be gay to get in?

    Yes, Cobalt is a gay club. You do not need to be gay to enter, but please keep in mind our business and programming caters to the gay community and we do not tolerate rude, abusive or otherwise disorderly conduct by anyone. We also discourage bacholorette parties from making Cobalt a stop during your night as we have gotten many complaints about the behavior of such groups in the past.
  2. How old do I need to be to get in?

    We are always strictly 21+.
  3. Do I need an ID to get in?

    Everyone must have a valid U.S. government issued drivers license or identification card, valid military ID or a valid passport. We card everyone and we can recognize fake ID's. We do not accept expired licenses or college or work badges as forms of ID.
  4. What if I've lost or forgotten my ID?

    You will not be permitted to enter without a valid ID.
  5. Do you have a dress code?

    No. Casual, jeans, polos, tank tops, shorts, or dress slacks are the norm and perfectly fine. Gay men know how to dress. If you feel the need to go shirtless on the dance floor, that works too.
  6. Can you explain the "No High Heels Policy?"

    Sure. We do not allow spiked high heels simply for safety reasons. Period. Just stay on the safe side and wear flat shoes. Most gay men don't look at women's heels anyway so just leave that fashion at home.
  7. What form of payment do you accept?

    We accept cash or credit card at the bar. We have an ATM if you need cash. We do not accept personal checks.
  8. Where exactly are you located?

    On the corner of 17th & R Street, Northwest. Look for the black awning.
  9. Do you have drag shows or strippers?

    Unless there is a special event we do not have drag shows. We do not have strippers.
  10. What kind of music do you play?

    It varies. Tuesday: 70's disco and 80's retro. Thursday: pop, hip-hop and top 40 dance. Friday: mostly mainstream dance unless there is a special event. Saturday: mostly harder, tribal, progressive and underground house. Sunday: karaoke.
  11. Can you tell me where the sex club is in DC?

    Yes. And please tell your friends. It's called the Crew Club. Their phone number is 202-319-1333. They are located at 1321 14th Street, NW.
